PENNY LAYFIELD COUNSELLING
My aim as a counsellor is to help you to work though whatever is troubling you in a safe, confidential space. With empathy and in a non-judgemental way, I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in order for you to gain insight and understanding about yourself and your relationship with others.
I am in the final stages of training for the Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling. During my training I have worked as a voluntary counsellor for Wiltshire Mind and also within a Women's Refuge.
I am a student member of BACP and abide by its Ethical Framework.
I have experience of working with issues including: Anxiety, Bereavement and Grief, Depression, Domestic Abuse, Low Self Esteem, Relationship Issues and Stress.
I offer low cost counselling, charging £20.00 a session.
Due to the Covid Pandemic, I am able to offer a limited number of places
at a lower cost to those on benefits or low income (minimum £5.00 a session)
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw upon different approaches when working. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I hold humanistic values and see everyone as unique with the ability to reach their full potential given the right conditions. I also use psychodynamic ideas which recognise that our past relationships, particularly those when we were young, can affect present life and relationships. Together we may be able to recognise and explore patterns of feelings or behaviour that are no longer useful.
My integrative approach allows me to work in a way that best suits each client. I offer short-term counselling of 12 weeks and also longer term work depending on your needs.
Please contact me to arrange a free initial session where we can discuss what you are looking for and you can then decide whether you would like to continue to work with me.
